Barking Mad Treats Milestone First Birthday
Barking Mad Treats celebrated their first birthday on the Weekend with a cake from Cakes Glorious Cakes, champagne and pupcakes!
Business partner Leah Harris said it has been a whirlwind first year of making gourmet treats for the dogs of the Mackay region and across Australia.
“Despite the economic downturn in Mackay we are still getting a lot of support from locals and we are really grateful” she said. “You can find us at local markets like the Handmade Boutique market coming up on the 22nd of May and we also have an extensive online store on our website, barkingmadtreats.com.”
Over the year Leah and Sonia have slowly expanded the business. They started out making 4 types of treats and have now expanded to 10 different flavours including the popular beer and pizza treats, as well as making cat treats, pupcakes, birthday cakes, party hats and custom hand stamped dog tags.
“We pride ourselves on supporting local, we source most of our supplies locally where we can” Sonia said. “We also support the local animal rescue organisations on a regular basis including holding a stall at the upcoming RSPCA Million Paws walk on May 15th.”
The idea for the business came about when the two partners were enjoying a glass of wine and talking about their beloved dogs and the treats they make for them. People really love their pets and are becoming more aware of the ingredients used in their food and treats. The ladies believe that pet food should be of the same quality as human food.
